Gail Swain

Gail Swain wrote about her “great big voice” in her original song “Sisters of the Heart,” and her solos rock the house, but she also loves harmonizing with her powerful 3 octave range. Almost all the songs in the right-hand column are her originals from a concert in September of 2019 that featured the different stages of life. Because she has 40 years’ experience performing, you’ll hear that she went right on singing when the power went out in that concert, and could be heard throughout the auditorium!

“Sisters of the Heart” appears on Gail’s original CD called “Full Spectrum,” which includes a truly wide range of vocal music, from jazz to rock, a cappella to full bands, solo to full choirs.

Since moving to Santa Cruz in 1982 she has co-founded and sung in: an Early Music & Shape Note Ensemble; a women’s band; a rock band; a women’s original duo; a jazz guitar & vocal duo (Tuck & Patti style); a country band; a folk recording project; a women’s a cappella quartet (What Four!); a very popular a cappella quartet (VocaMotion) ; an inspirational duo; a women’s a cappella trio (Mama Medicine) , and currently “Healer Trio”, a women’s trio dedicated to inspiring, connecting and healing our troubled world through vocal music.

In addition to Healer Trio, Gail is in demand singing back up for Peter Weiss the singing Scientist with educational music for children; Environmental Activist Michael Levy on his ‘Great Big Love’ Project, and as a wedding officiant. She works as the Choir Director & Music Coordinator for the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Santa Cruz County, and is the Former Music Director at Unity Temple.
